Today marks my anniversary in St Andrew – my first Sunday Mass happened exactly one year ago. It has been quite a year – lots of things could not happen due to the pandemic and many things only happened due to the pandemic: for example I would not have had the time without Covid to dive into the history of the church nor would I have been able to blackmail other people in caring for the building in the same way if all of you had not been bored stiff by Netflix during lockdown.
I needed to be ordained for 25 years before being allowed to work in the best parish in Leicestershire – looking back through this blog and my notes about what happened in the past 12 months has been hugely encouraging. That does not mean that everything is already completely wonderful and accomplished – that would be boring – but much is happening, starting, growing and developing. I am hugely enjoying St Andrew’s and I am looking forward to the next year!
