St Andrew’s, Jarrom Street
A Gilbert Scott Church in the Catholic Tradition of Anglicanism
Saint Andrew’s has been the Parish Church for this area of Leicester for more than 150 years. It was originally built to cater for people living in the then new houses around here. Many of these houses were cleared in the 1950s and the area has dramatically changed through the development and growth of both the Leicester Royal Infirmary and De Montfort University.
St Andrew’s has always been a Parish in the more Catholic Tradition of Anglicanism, stressing the importance of drama and beauty in worship, the importance of working for social justice, and trying to find God in all things.
Today we are keenly aware to live in one of the most diverse cities in Britain and that we want to make a contribution to our community by helping people from different backgrounds to get to know each other, find common ground, mutual respect and become hospitable neighbours.
